At ArtSmart, our mission is to:
1 · Reinvigorate arts in Bay Area urban communities. With ongoing budget cuts and a slowly recovering economy, the arts and art education are becoming less accessible to our children.
2 · Expose the truth about urban art. A misleading notion has evolved suggesting that all graffiti is urban art and all urban art is graffiti. The latter is untrue and we would like to teach our children that there are varying forms urban art that are relatable and representative of who they are and from where they come.
We strive to partner with other nonprofit organizations and public agencies in our area to provide free art classes, workshops and activities for students K through 12 and adults in the community. Our goal is to conduct 52 seventy-five minute art sessions over a 12-month period.
